At Amido we believe that we can make the world a better place through the empathetic and pragmatic engineering of smart technologies.
We understand that we are in a position where we can make a positive impact. As such, we will be running a number of initiatives to reduce and offset our carbon footprint, and work on projects and partnerships that leverage innovative technology for good.
Our 2020 goals
Reducing the amount of landfill we generate as an organisation
We are working to eliminate single-use plastic from our offices, making sure that everyday items such as milk cartons and disposable cups/plates are made from recyclable and compostable material.
Support charities & initiatives focused on long term sustainability
We support initiatives that work towards reducing deforestation, reducing emissions from cookstoves in developing countries, purchasing renewable energy from wind or solar farms, planting trees, and supporting recycling and reuse projects.
Conscious company events
We decrease the environmental impact of company events by ordering from ethical and local suppliers. We review the sustainability policies of our suppliers to ensure that they echo our sentiments of low waste and minimal fuel emissions.
Bi-annual carbon emissions survey
We measure our emissions using technology such as smart meters in order to track progress against our vision and set regular milestones.
Increase environmental awareness in the business
Our CSR committee regularly updates and involves the team on what we are doing to improve our social, economic and environmental impact.
Using local, ethical suppliers with a low carbon footprint
We make sure that we use local suppliers for our offices where possible to support our local communities and businesses.
Farmsmart app
The Farmsmart project is an example of how our work is making a positive impact on the world through smarter technology.
Find out how we've been working with Farmsmart to develop a powerful tool that will revolutionise how organisations can work with farmers to share sustainable farming practises.
NHS 24 is Scotland’s national provider of telephone and digital based services. They have been at the forefront of providing information, care and support throughout the Covid-19 pandemic.
The organisation was struggling to respond to a huge spike in telephone enquiries and needed to find a new way to give people timely access to accurate information and advice.
Find out how we delivered a proof of concept in less that 24 hours.
As part of our push to reduce the amount of landfill we produce as an organisation, we have reviewed our suppliers to ensure our deliveries are packaged in bio-degradable or reusable packaging.
By using local suppliers, we can also support our local communities and businesses whilst reducing emissions.
