Java Consultant
About the role and what you'll be doing
Our Technical Leads are hands-on, and using your knowledge of application architecture, be responsible for selecting and building the most suitable frontend solution for your client, this will include architecting CSR and SSR mixed solutions and influencing the success of the project.
You will be working across the full project lifecycle, from developing proof of concept to delivering the final project, delivering testable technical solutions in the form of high-quality code in Java. You will be involved in all other aspects of an agile project, from estimating to refinements and retrospectives. You might also be involved in presenting technical topics to your team or coaching more junior members of staff.

You will be a self-starter, proactive in your project work and your career, including identifying your development needs and planning to fill them with the help of your training budget.
We are a client-facing business, but we do encourage clients to allow us to work remotely for a majority of the time so if you are not required to be on client site, you can choose to work from home or in our Amido offices.
What you’ll bring to Amido
We are looking for passionate developers who have a proactive attitude and can interact effectively within a team. You will also need the following skills and experience:
- Developing in Java (8+)
- Practicing TDD
- Working with different frameworks, such as Spring
- Familiarity with HTTP concepts
- Understanding of RESTful interfaces
- Working with source control
- Working with software configuration management, CI and versioning strategies
- Understanding of objective-orientated design patterns
- Understanding the purpose of databases
- Great communication skills, in particular: presenting, collaborating and working with stakeholders
- Understanding business and client requirements and an ability to articulate solutions to both technical and non-technical audiences
