Lead Data Engineering Consultant
About the role and what you'll be doing
We expect our Technical Leads to be hands-on and responsible for assisting our clients in the design, architecture, security management and governance of their big data solutions. You will be responsible for designing data lakes and massive scale ingestion pipeline solutions, including batch/grid, micro batching, stream processing and lambda solutions. Ultimately, you will be responsible for designing data solutions which encompass high utilisation, elastic scaling and efficient data distribution for our clients.
You will work closely with senior technical people from the client, navigating through complex stakeholder relationships, guiding architectural and technical decisions, as well as playing a leadership position coaching and mentoring members of the project team.

We are a client-facing business, but we do encourage clients to allow us to work remotely for a majority of the time so if you are not required to be on client site, you can choose to work from home or in our Amido offices.
What you’ll bring to Amido
You will be working across the SDLC on large, complex and scalable projects with high volume and high availability microservices. As such, you’ll need to bring your skills and experience:
- Designing and building big data solutions and articulated architecture, security, management and governance in Big Data solutions
- Advanced knowledge of data storage, including RDMS, cloud storage, HDFS and NoSQL
- Designing data solutions which encompass high utilisation, elastic scaling and efficient data distribution and partitioning
- Implementing system solutions using the most appropriate cloud-based services/platform with a deep understanding of the advantages and disadvantages of different enterprise environments
- Confidently taking on challenges and being responsible for outcomes
- Creating a collaborative team environment where everyone’s opinion is heard, but you know when to be assertive, back down or escalate
- Understanding the way projects affect your client’s success and adds value to their business
- Great communication skills, in particular: presenting, collaborating and partnering with stakeholders
